Chepaticket Ticketing Platform
An event and transport ticketing platform, built from scratch for a city that had none. I assembled the delivery team and handled the backend, DevOps and project management myself.

The ticketing system for events and transportation in remote parts of Zambia were not very digitized and so Efficient Solutions came up with an idea to build this and make it publicly available, which was where I came in. There was already an existing platform for this, but it didn't meet industry standard so the job description was to overhaul the platform and build it to perfection.
My role
I led development end to end and acted as project manager on the same engagement by curating the roadmap, sprint cadence and client reporting alongside the architecture. I assembled and led a team of developers and designers, and held numerous roles at once: backend developer, DevOps engineer and Project Manager. I set the architecture, wrote the backend, provisioned and ran the AWS infrastructure, and was also the person the client talked to about scope and timeline. There was no layer between the technical decisions and the commercial ones.
The architecture
Modular NestJS backend
The API was rebuilt as discrete NestJS modules with explicit boundaries, so ticketing, payments and user management could evolve independently instead of collapsing back into the tangle the rebuild was meant to escape.
Shared API across web and mobile
One backend serves both the web platform and the React Native app. Business rules live in a single place, so a pricing or validation change cannot silently diverge between clients.
Infrastructure as code on AWS
Compute on EC2 with managed PostgreSQL on RDS, with environments defined in code. That took manual deployment errors down by roughly 40%, and it meant the team shipped through a CI/CD pipeline.
Ticket validation and scanning
Ticket state has to be authoritative at the gate, where connectivity is worst and the cost of a double-admit is highest. Validation was designed around that constraint.
Results Achieved
- Launched a production ticketing platform handling concurrent purchases at scale
- Led a team of developers and designers through a full platform rebuild
- Reduced manual deployment errors by 40% through infrastructure as code
- Deployed on web and to the mobile app stores
